I had a Kawasaki 900 with a DOHC motor. Its valve design was called shim-over-bucket. A thin disc of a specific thickness, captured on the bucker by a small ridge, adjusted the clearance between the cam's lobe base circle and the valve (actually the bucket wich was in direct contact with the valve stem). The Z has a similar system but the clearance or lash is controlled hydraulically. How is it able to adjust the "lash" w/o the oil pressure openning the valve?
